Book Trailer for Jane Devin's Elephant Girl
Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:30AM Hey, look what I made! For the incomparable Jane Devin I put together a trailer for her novel Elephant Girl: A Human Story. Which you can find on Amazon in pleasingly solid paperback or light-as-photons Kindle edition.

And there it is. If you’re curious, I used a few of Jane’s old family photos (faces blurred out, mostly for effect) and did the shooting within a block of my apartment building on my trusty Lumix GF2. I’ll be making a few more changes, but this is pretty close to the end product.

Aidan. that was really perfect.
Beautiful job.
Beautifully done. Long time fan of Jane's. HOWEVER, I get that the faces were blurred out for effect but it annoyed me. As your basic voyeur I'm interested in faces. Having them blurred out made me not want to know more. Just my 2.
I agree with Suzy. Not sure this will sell books. I want to see what the world looks like THROUGH the eyes of Elephant Girl.
Through the eyes of Elephant Girl... good idea. I wonder how that could be executed. By showing the faces?
I like the style, but I don't think it says enough about the book. I'd put the quote sooner, at the very least. I'd also love to see or hear a quote from Jane early on in the trailer and maybe some quotes from the book about the people who are shown in the pictures. If I didn't know the people involved in the making of the trailer, I wouldn't have made it through the whole thing.
I like Suebob's ideas. Showcase the writing with voice-overs from Jane and other people in the book. Should be something like Precious and Boys Don't Cry. What's the hook?
A quote early on to give some context is an excellent idea. Voice-overs are a whole different ball of wax and would take a lot more time and energy than I have these days.
If you want something like Precious or Boys Don't Cry, give me a budget and I'll make it happen.
Great. Made me curious about the book, was entertaining to watch, made me feel something...
Impressive.
I feel like I should say something Hollywood Producerish here after that comment. Anyway, I liked it!
That was cool. The song and the leaves and the blurry faces made me feel all fucking weird. If you're gonna have a book trailer, it should make you feel all fucking weird because then the book will be connected to a bunch of fucking weird, complicated feelings and make you want to buy it.
