poems for monsters #9: a dream of spiderman (with video!)
» Thursday, October 08, 2009

Poems for Monsters is making the leap to video, which is all in keeping with the tremendous leaps in camcorder technology over the last forty years. If I'd done this in 1973, there's no way I would have been able to afford the equipment and time to bring you my poetry (sic) in such an exciting format. Add to that the complete lack of internet, the absence of Flash video and the fact that I was two years old in 1973. So you can see why it took me so long to put this together.

Anyway.

Note for Facebook users: If the video isn't showing up on my feed, you can see it on my website In Palinode's Palace.

This is one of those rare times when someone says LOL on the Internet and means it literally. That was awesome. I LOLed all over the place. So, thanks for making my day :)

Blogger Sheryl

This was so bloomin funny. I hope you'll film all your subsequent poems for monsters.

Blogger Nat

I was going to say something about how I rarely say "lol" because I rarely actually laugh out loud but this time I did...and then? Savia beat me to it.

It's a sad day when Spiderman has jurisdiction over our dreams.

That's hilarious! Poetry I can dig. I also love the cat slipping in there at the end for a drink of bath water and/or sneaking a peak. Kudos to the cameralady/wife as well.

This awesomeness requires that To Palinode becomes a verb.

Blogger blackbird

- at least you have some control over the cat.

Also wanted to add that I would appreciate it if you and your lovely wife would please be present when I attempt to get high for the first time. So that in case it doesn't work, I'll be in your company and giggling, and won't ever know that I'm an ineffective toker.

Basically, I was thinking: Wow, this sounds a lot like the dreams my five year old tells me she has. That's so cute! His mind is permeated with superheroes just like a little kid's. Well, until the last part. Her dreams are still more innocent.

AND what Sweet Salty Kate said. I want your lovely wife there for the first time. When I get high that is. Of course, she'd have to go back in time. But that can be done. With marijuana all things are possible.

Is that water clean?

Blogger palinode

Is that water clean? HELLS MAYBE.

Yes, it was freshly run water. Looks kind of murky because of the lighting.

Anonymous Shanan

I watched this and cried it was so awesome.

Blogger Ozma

Oh, but the milk bath effect is what gives it that...I don't know. Words escape me, since this is one for the ages. But visually, the murkiness of the water is key. I hope you replicate that in the sequel.

I am sure glad you are my friend because I definitely wouldn't not want you to be my arch enemy or the 'evil fiend'...you would be too good at it. You wouldn't just trust to fate that your evil machines would destroy me and thus leave me to their machine(ations)...you would stay to make sure that I got splattered or boiled or whatever evil ploy you have up your sleeve.

Blogger The Holmes

I always assumed you bathed in milk. That was awesome.
